Solar for the Centre – Successful Fund Raising for Award Winning Community Centre in Suffolk.
The Coddenham Centre has been successful in securing grants totalling £62,000 to become self-sufficient in solar generated electricity supplies by April 2023.
Grants have been obtained from the Valencia Communities Fund, with the support of Mid Suffolk District Council and the National Lottery.
The Coddenham Centre Charity which successfully took on the facility at the end of 2019 commented; ‘We are indebted to our sponsors and all those who supported our application. The initiative will meet almost 80% of our power requirements, joining last year’s air source heat-pumps to almost double our carbon reduction and help make Suffolk, the Greenest County.
We will head off the potentially crippling electricity costs, that are challenging so many community facilities right now. Reducing these costs, allows us to control charges and protect our health and wellbeing activities for all’
A special thanks to those residents and stakeholders who took the trouble to write letters endorsing this exciting project.
Over 60% of the funding we generate goes towards adding value to the community asset as well its sustainability. This project is no exception.
