Hello Nordic Walkers,
Not@The Coddenham Centre This Week
A big thank you to Karen for planning today’s walk in nearby Ashfield.
What a lovely walk this was, with big Suffolk skies and far-reaching views, in an area that was unfamiliar to most of us, although not far away. We had a really super morning and the weather was kind to us, until later that afternoon when I got drenched. At least I had the reassurance that my new waterproof actually worked!
Now that we have ventured further afield, we’ve rather got the bit between our collective teeth and a walk around the beautiful Helmingham Estate has been requested.
So…..
Next Monday (24th August) we shall be meeting at 10am at St Mary’s Church on the Helmingham Hall Estate NOT THE CODDENHAM CENTRE.
Approaching from the SW, go past the Hall main entrance and the Church is on the left just before the junction of B1077 and B1079 about 15 mins drive from Coddenham. There is limited parking in front of the churchyard, kindly made available to walkers so please bring some change to put in the box as we return through the gate from our walk.
The walk is not long (3.3miles/5.3 kms) but follows the footpath around the deer park with plenty of views of the stunning Hall, which dates back to 1480, the Obelisk and hopefully some of the numerous herds of deer.
A word of caution…there is a high deer-proof stile (a bit like going up and down a step ladder) so if that could cause a problem for you, perhaps wait until the following week’s walk, as there’s really no way around it.
Although this is a free and voluntary group for trained Nordic Walkers, we do need to restrict numbers at the moment to abide by government COVID-19 guidelines, so please book your place by contacting Gail at enquiries@thecoddenhamcentre.co.uk and maintain social distancing at all times.
Have a good week and
Happy Walking!
